Physiotherapy for Male Urinary Incontinence

Pre-requisite: entry level course in uro-gynecology (Physical therapy for female urinary incontinence, or equivalent)
NOTE: This 1 day course is only offered sometimes / usually in conjunction with The Physical Therapy Approach for Dyspareunia course.
Up to 40% of men undergoing surgery for cancer of the prostate will experience the unfortunate consequence of urinary incontinence, leading to significant impact on their quality of life. Pelvic floor physiotherapy is considered first line intervention for post-prostatectomy incontinence. This course will allow the pelvic floor physiotherapist to adapt her approach for the treatment of the male patient with incontinence.

Claudia Brown and Marie-Josée Lord have been successfully treating patients affected with urinary incontinence for many years. Having studied and worked with kinesitherapists in Europe, they have together been responsible for the training of more than 500 physical therapists across Canada, in the techniques of pelvi-perineal re-education.

- – Become able to adapt the treatment process for urinary incontinence to the male patient
